Complexity of Problems Concerning Reset Words for Some Partial Cases of Automata
نویسنده
چکیده
A word w is called a reset word for a deterministic finite automaton A if it maps all states of A to one state. A word w is called a compressing to M states for a deterministic finite automaton A if it maps all states of A to at most M states. We consider several subclasses of automata: aperiodic, Dtrivial, monotonic, partially monotonic automata and automata with a zero state. For these subclasses we study the computational complexity of the following problems. Does there exist a reset word for a given automaton? Does there exist a reset word of given length for a given automaton? What is the length of the shortest reset word for a given automaton? Moreover, we consider complexity of the same problems for compressing words.

Two Novel D-Flip Flops with Level Triggered Reset in Quantum Dot Cellular Automata Technology
Quantum dot cellular automata (QCA) introduces a pioneer technology in nano scale computer architectures. Employing this technology is one of the solutions to decrease the size of circuits and reducing power dissipation. In this paper, two new optimized FlipFlops with reset input are proposed in quantum dot cellular automata technology. In addition, comparison with related works is performed.Th...
متن کاملThe Complexity of Finding Reset Words in Finite Automata
We study several problems related to finding reset words in deterministic finite automata. In particular, we establish that the problem of deciding whether a shortest reset word has length k is complete for the complexity class DP. This result answers a question posed by Volkov. For the search problems of finding a shortest reset word and the length of a shortest reset word, we establish member...
متن کاملTREE AUTOMATA BASED ON COMPLETE RESIDUATED LATTICE-VALUED LOGIC: REDUCTION ALGORITHM AND DECISION PROBLEMS
In this paper, at first we define the concepts of response function and accessible states of a complete residuated lattice-valued (for simplicity we write $mathcal{L}$-valued) tree automaton with a threshold $c.$ Then, related to these concepts, we prove some lemmas and theorems that are applied in considering some decision problems such as finiteness-value and emptiness-value of recognizable t...
متن کاملExperiments with Synchronizing Automata
We have improved an algorithm generating synchronizing automata with a large length of the shortest reset words. This has been done by refining some known results concerning bounds on the reset length. Our improvements make possible to consider a number of conjectures and open questions concerning synchronizing automata, checking them for automata with a small number of states and discussing th...
متن کاملRecognizability versus solvability of promise problems in finite, classical and quantum automata, framework
In pioneering papers [13, 17], the concept of the promise problems was introduced and started to be systematically explored. It has been argued that promise problems should be seen as partial decision problems and as such that they are more fundamental than decision problems and formal languages that used to be considered as the basic ones for complexity theory issues explorations. Moreover, bo...
